Running for Sudan: RCN's Charity Half-Marathon

The RCN community has been involved in a half-marathon of 21.1 Km this Sunday 9th may from 11:15 to 15:00. A charity marathon organised by students at UWC Red Cross Nordic. The goal for this run was to fundraise for the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan and provide donations to The Norwegian People’s Aid. This half-marathon reunited all the community together with some locals who decided to join the run.

21.1 Km of running. It was so nice seeing students prepare themselves for this marathon over weeks and more excited to see how all the community was involved in this.

From locals joining the half-marathon and school members being present to cheer on others and support them, this Sunday was an unforgettable day which shows one more time how UWC is making a great impact all over the world.

From the Høegh Senter, runners have traveled 8km on asphalt, 11.1 km on gravel and 2 km on a trail. With various water stations providing hydration, some first aiders were also present in case runners would need support from them.

“Every kilometer I run raises money for Norsk Folkehjelp’s life-changing work building peace and providing aid to Sudan”. Some students at RCN collaborated with Norsk Folkehjelp to make this run possible. Their mission in Sudan is to build a peaceful society through fair distribution of power, resources and reduced social and political inequality.

RCN students are already making an impact beyond the Flekke bubble. This kind of initiative is what truly makes the difference in our daily lives.
