Cycling Iceland for UWC Scholarships
Charity cycling for 1,332 kilometres in 18 days to raise UWC scholarships for students affected by conflict.

On June 1, Alessandro Tazartes and Luis Sáenz Pombo will leave Reykjavik and start cycling Iceland's Ring Road. The route is 1,332 kilometres of glaciers, volcanic plains, and North Atlantic coastline, and the plan is to finish it in 18 days. The team includes UWC Atlantic graduates, guest riders, and supporters who can join for a stretch of the journey. The whole thing is called Bifröst.
The structure is straightforward: 18 days, 18 schools, one school featured per day. The fundraising goal is €120,000, which through the Davis-UWC Dare to Dream Matching Programme gets doubled to €240,000, enough for four full UWC scholarships. Three go to students whose lives have been affected by conflict. The fourth is meant to help establish Iceland's first-ever UWC National Committee.
Each UWC putting together a short video for their day on the route, something that gives the riders and anyone following along online a real feel for what life at our school looks like. The campus, the traditions, the mix of people who ended up there together. Each school will also be giving them a small challenge inspired by something they do here, the individual school's way of being part of the journey without being on the road.
