RCN theatre kid turned published novelist

Hamza arrived at RCN as a Physics and Chemistry HL student but spent most of his energy in the theatre, writing, directing, and eventually running the Theatre EAC. His adaptation of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge was the highlight. He went on to study in the US, where he wrote and directed short films about urban isolation and mental health. In 2020 he returned to Pakistan and found the country felt unfamiliar. He turned to books, then to writing. Walking through Karachi he saw what time had done to the city and decided to document it. The result is The Oracle of Hate, a novel blending magical realism and political tension, following a young man pulled into Karachi's criminal underworld during a national election. It is published across South Asia, with an international release in progress.
